Franz Kafka (1883-1924) was a German-speaking writer of Czech origin, known for his surreal, dark, and introspective novels and short stories.Born into a middle-class Jewish family in Prague, then part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, Kafka was the eldest of six siblings.
