    Tito Puente Sr.

    (born Ernesto Antonio Puente Jr.) was a famous American musician, timbalero, vibraphonist, percussionist, and composer. He was born in 1923 in New York City to Puerto Rican immigrants Ernest and Ercilia Puente.

    Early Life and Musical Education

    At the age of 7, Tito started taking piano lessons from a local teacher.

    A couple of years later, he began studying percussion simultaneously. As a 13-year-old teenager, Tito started performing with Noro Morales' orchestra and later joined the 'Machito' orchestra.

    However, due to World War II, Tito had to suspend his musical career.
